I had my first go on a PS3 the other day and it was driving a 40″ Sony Bravia-X TV. That TV is fully 1080p capable and it shows, it’s the first consumer TV I’ve seen that actually looks like real “high definition”. But I digress. The PS3 certainly did a good job of throwing the pixels around. It’s also slightly smaller than I expected. The controllers are light and at first I thought they were really insanely light but back at home and holding a PS2 controller in my hand it’s only a little different. I think I’ve just got used to the weight of the Xbox 360 controllers. Not much more to say at this point other than the PS3 on a large high contrast HD display looked great but that’s to be expected really. On a semi-related note, I bought my first Blu-Ray disc today. The guy in the shop said it was the first one they sold. I don’t know if that’s incredibly sad or in some way awesome. What I do know is I like the slightly shorter case size when compared with DVDs since it will translate to more free space on the shelf.
On an unrelated note, early on in the game, the Final Fantasy XII battle system does not appear to have anyway improved upon the crappy demo. Hopefully though once gambits become available and I can turn off my brain during the uninvolving fights it will be less annoying.
