I’ve been finally managing to catch up with everything again rather than chasing my tail like I’d been doing since the start of 2007. It’s nice to have some time free again and actually have the odd day where I can just relax and do something at home. *phew* Even managed to get in a little gaming the other day with Gothic III, I really hadn’t got time for much gaming for a while. I won’t be doing a lot of Xbox 360 gaming in the immediate future either though. For a while now it’s been throwing up errors occasionally reading discs and the drive seems even noisier than before so it’s going back for repair before the warranty runs out. Early adopter blues I guess. Not really going to miss it anyway during this time, the 360 seems to be in one of it’s release droughts again at the moment. Hope it gets back by the time the HD-DVD drive module arrives later in March though. I’d already ordered some HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs so it’ll be good to see how they perform. I’ve had the odd comment questioning my PS3 preorder but I can’t say I see many other devices for the price that offer Blu-ray and SACD playback and play games to boot. I’ve already got a few SACDs and considering I’ve got the kind of sound system where the difference should be able to be appreciated it’ll be good to finally have a player around.
I’ve barely been online other than via the web, mostly because I hadn’t got around to setting up everything on my new laptop. Well I guess I’m still not completely done with that even now. Kind of annoyed though to finally give in to upgrade pressure and get a physically larger MacBook Pro only to find in the rumors today that Apple is looking at re-entering the subnotebook market once again (I resisted upgrading because they killed their last products that resembled subnotebooks). @_@ Ah well, what can you do? Besides, this MacBook Pro is very capable, it can even play the system killer that is Gothic III when booted into Windows. MacOS X seems quite happy on the Core 2 Duo processor although one or two programs seem a little less stable on the Intel CPU. It’s going to get a 7200 RPM hard drive when Segate get their new line out but for now the 5400 RPM one isn’t too painful. I was kind of amazed to see they were shipping 2GB of RAM by default. Very nice.
“notMadchan” seems to be ticking along reasonably well even despite the Madman forums being up once again. It all kind of surprised me really. When Carl seemed keen to use the forums which I’d setup quite a while back for other reasons I thought they might get a little use for a day or two till the other forums came back up but now it’s over a thousands posts and counting.
Ah well, I think I should get out and about enjoying the sun for a while today. Been nice lately to see blue up there instead of grey for a change in the last week or two. What a sucky summer it’s been. Off to a BBQ later too, good day for it.
